Hi friends,
It’s now been almost 3 weeks since Gaza first started getting bombed and the situation is truly untenable and heartbreaking. At the time of writing, over 5,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, at least 1,500 of them children. Over 51% of homes in Gaza have been destroyed, and 1.4 million Palestinians left homeless. Please continue to raise your voices loudly, and to write to your MPS / government officials to demand a ceasefire. There are some resources on how to do so here.
Last week, I shared a newsletter with a moving guest piece by Palestinian-American Jenan Matari, along with some resources - from books to podcasts and films - with more background and context as to what is currently unfolding. Please do check it out. It’s never been more important that we remain educated and informed.
In collaboration with my dear friend Hana Elrais, we have created a heart opening space for the SWANA community in London to come together and be held in love. A space in which we can allow ourselves to feel, and to grieve, in community.
On Sunday, November 5th, we will come together as a community, to mourn and grieve our brothers and sisters, our beloved land and all that we are witnessing in Palestine as a collective. As people in the diaspora, we have also had to bear witness to unutterable dehumanisation in the face of this tragedy, a gaslighting which comes with its own grief. Coming together in a safe space with others who see what we see, who feel how we feel, and feeling free to express ourselves openly and be held is, in itself, a healing.
What to expect:
-Talking about Palestine
- What grief is and its core emotions
- A heart opening meditation, to drop out of the mind and into the body, to create space for our vulnerability and the power of vulnerability.
-Sharing circle ( there will be no pressure for anyone to share, but we recommend it and it'll be guided by Hana)
-Grounding down with Sound and energy healing (if time allows)
ALL LOSS is welcome, whether its loss of a loved one, the loss of humanity, yourself, motherland, friendships.. No matter how big or small, we’ve all experienced some form of loss. We most commonly associate loss with death, but grief is the natural response to any loss.
This is an invite only event, with ticket costs going directly to Palestine. If you are a paid subscriber, please keep scrolling for more information and the link to purchase a ticket.
