Hi friends,
Today is the day and I’m so looking forward to hosting you along with author Sophia Smith Galer to discuss her debut book, Losing It: Sex Education for the 21st Century. We’ll be kicking off on Zoom at 6pm UK time.
Losing It is genuinely one of the most important books I’ve read recently, and I’ve been so enjoying the little bits of conversation we’ve been having about the book and the many sex myths it works to debunk on IG stories over the past month (check out the highlights if you’ve missed them).
The truth is, sex education - if we received it at all - is sorely lacking, and often feeds into some really damaging ideas. Sex and the ideas we have around and about it impacts all aspects of our lives, which is why it’s so important to talk about it and debunk the incorrect myths we’ve been taught and have adopted by osmosis.
Tonight will be a fun and honest *group* conversation about the book and the many sex myths it works to debunk; everything from the virginity / hymen / tightness myth, the consent myth, virility myth and more. I’d also love to talk about the role of shame in perpetuating these myths and preventing conversation around sex, as well as the importance of open and healthy communication. I hope you’ll join us! You don’t have to have read the book to be able to take part in this conversation.
This event is free for paid subscribers of this newsletter, so if you’d like to join, upgrade here if you’ve yet to (there’s 10% off if you sign up now), or you can buy one of the limited tickets on Eventbrite.
Please note, I will be recording the Zoom but I’ll only be sharing a snippet of what Sophia and / or myself say. This will be a safe space for conversation.
If you’re already a paid subscriber, read on for the link to join us, below. Can’t wait to see all your beautiful faces!
